Step 7 · Take it for a spin

Take it for a spin

Let's prove it all works by setting up your first (pretend) customer. Three sentences to Claude — that's the whole test.

1. Onboard a customer

Type this into Claude:

Say this to Claude

Add the Johnsons at 123 Main, one 15,000-gallon salt pool, weekly, $150/month.

Claude sets up the account and offers to create their Stripe customer. You'll see it ask you to confirm before anything touches Stripe — say yes. Now you have a customer on the books.

2. Log a visit

Say this to Claude

123 Main — FC 1.5, pH 7.8, TA 110, CH 300, CYA 40, temp 82. Skimmed and brushed.

Claude files the visit and its readings, then works out the water balance and tells you whether the pool's in good shape and what to add if not.

3. See the service report

Say this to Claude

Show me the Johnsons' service report.

Claude produces the polished, homeowner-facing report — the same one your customers would receive. If you connected Gmail, it can also prepare it as a draft email for you to send.

If all three worked, you're live
That's the full loop — data in, chemistry figured out, a customer-ready report out. Your setup is complete. And there's no menu to memorize: from here you just talk to Claude the way you'd talk to an office manager.

Keep going — try the rest of the toolkit

Onboarding, visits, and reports are only three of the ten jobs you installed. Each of the prompts below exercises a different one — and they all work on your pretend customer, so try a few before the Johnsons retire. Phrasing doesn't matter; say it your way and Claude will find the right skill.

Routes
Build today's route.
Sequences the day's due stops into an efficient order, with a turn-by-turn maps link.
Chemistry
Is the Johnsons' pool balanced?
Recomputes the water balance from the latest readings and tells you what to add.
Billing
Bill everyone for this month.
Assembles each customer's invoice — service fee plus extras — and previews the whole batch before a single card is charged.
Collections
Who's past due?
Checks Stripe for unpaid invoices and drafts a tone-matched reminder for each — nothing sends without your yes.
Business pulse
How did we do this month?
A one-screen dashboard: revenue, pools serviced, chemistry flags, and who owes what.
Month-end
Close out the month for my accountant.
Reconciles invoices against payments, flags mismatches, and produces a CPA-ready export.

Asking questions is always safe — reads never change anything. The only actions Claude gates behind an explicit yes are the ones that move money or send email, so poke around freely.

Clean up the test customer (optional)
The Johnsons were just a dry run. If you'd like them gone, tell Claude to remove that test customer, or delete the row in Airtable. One caveat: Airtable rows delete cleanly, but Stripe transactions don't — invoices and charges stay in your account's history forever. If you want to test-drive billing too, point the connector at a Stripe sandbox first — see the sandbox dry run in Connect Stripe.
